On top of any other discounts and incentives, you may also deduct 30% of the total wind and solar application (that is 30% off equipment AND installation) on your federal income tax return. The Energy Improvement and Extension Act of 2008. This highlights a number of different residential & commercial incentives for using a large number of alternative energies. The bottom of page 5 of this document gives a credit to commercial properties for improving their lighting efficiency.
