LED Lighting

For Your Sustainability

For Your Sustainability

If you are anything like us, you love saving energy and saving money.  At the same time, you do not want to give up any of your modern conveniences.  We are right there with you!  We love our gadgets as much as the next person and most everything takes energy to run.

One of the things we noticed again and again was how much power lighting can utilize.  Teri Leigh particularly is unwilling to give up lighting.  As she puts it, as the candles on her cake add up, she needs construction flood lights to read a book!  (and she loves to read!)

Up until now, LEDs were cool, yet not practical for interior lighting.  Fine for a flashlight, but not for a reading lamp.  Simply looking at the LEDs available at the big box stores, we observed the bulbs taking just a few watts, but the light output was also very small.  These bulbs were also expensive without a guarantee or warranty.

We got to thinking there must be a better bulb!

We have found an American company making LED bulbs with high enough light output for Teri Leigh to enjoy her book – and you can too!

Now for a little technical information.  You may jump ahead to the pages in the right menu for the right bulbs for your application.

LED Basics:

A light-emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor chip that emits light when conducting current.  LEDs are very versatile due to their ability to emit nearly all spectrum of light.  This has led to their nearly universal adoption as a light source for a wide range of applications from status indicator lights, traffic signals, to today’s advanced direct LED sources.

Benefits of LEDs:

Long Life:  Rated to have a 50,000 hour lifespan, in this same amount of time you will buy over 50 regular incandescent bulbs or 5 compact florescent bulbs!

Efficiency:

Our most powerful replacement bulb uses only 13 watts of electricity, yet it preforms on par with a 100 watt incandescent bulb and is due to the extremely efficient nature of these LEDs.  Traditional incandescent bulbs waste 98% of their energy producing wasted heat.  Our LEDs on the other hand produce very little heat in order to maintain brilliant light saving and even assist in cooling costs.

When you look at the costs to run traditional incandescent bulbs they simply don’t make sense:

One – 100 watt bulb costs approximately $43 dollars to run per year at 12 hours per day. But don’t forget that since an incandescent bulb only lasts 1000 hours, chances are you would have bought at least 4 replacement bulbs over the course of the year, bringing your total cost for just one light fixture to $50.

Compare this to…

One – 10 Watt LED XR-10 costs approximately $4.30 to run per year at 12 hours per day. Since it was on for approximately 4000 hours it still has nearly 10 years of life! Even throughout its entire 11 year life an XR-10 will cost approximately $120 while a traditional fixture using an incandescent bulb will cost nearly $550!

As you can see, replacing the majority of the lighting in your home or business with LEDs can really add up in terms of real money saved.

Durability:

There is no filament or tube to break.  Even if you drop one, there will not be a big mess to clean up whether it be shards of glass from an incandescent or mercury from a CFL.

Environmentally friendly:

LEDs are the most environmentally friendly light source other than pure sunlight.  First, there are no hazardous substances used inside our LEDs.  All of our products are RoHS compliant (a strict new standard reducing hazardous substances).  You’ve probably heard a lot about Compact Florescent Bulbs (CFL).  These have been touted as a solution to the inefficiencies of incandescent yet they are all made with mercury, thus they are hardly an environmentally sound solution after all.  LEDs are part of the solution to the energy crisis we are all facing.  LEDs use less power up front and generate less heat when used.  Replacing all of your lighting with LEDs will suddenly make your home or building an environmentally friendly structure.  Finally with the long life you will achieve from your LED bulbs, you will save on the disposal of approximately 50 incandescent bulbs and 5 mercury tainted, compact fluorescent bulbs thus cleaning up our landfills and ultimately saving our environment from waste.

Pure light:

Our LEDs are available in white and warm light color temperatures for the utmost in flexibility.  No matter which temperature you choose, you will always get pure, clear light that makes reading and viewing objects easier on the eyes.  Tired of annoying flickering and headaches caused by compact fluorescent bulbs?  Say hello to LEDs and their consistent visibility.
